On Saturdays I would walk to work..open up the pharmacy and then walk through the tunnel to OP to work there for the first hour.. my hours are as such...4 hours.. the first and last hour in OP and 2 hours at my hospital...
This morning I did the usual...as that way I am the second pharmacist to arrive..thus the other one would have turned off the alarm...lol...thinking I was running late I took the back door to find OP in total darkness..I started panicking...as I have never opened up before..then it came to me...S told me the other day how to set and turn off the alarm..so off I went to find the alarm panel so I can turn it off...
the techs all came..and then the trainees..ummmm 1 trainee and a newly qualified who knew basically not much..
then the daily pick ups came which meant I had to open up the safe....last night we had a late DD...and well I couldn't break in...S had to come to my rescue..and she went through it with me..lucky she did...as I had to break in again this morning...lol..I was so happy when the door opened..hehehe don't think I will make a very good thief...
not only that I have never calibrated the methadone machine before either...I only close it down every day ..so there I was trying to read the instruction to do it...as the newly qualified had no idea..and she wasn't game...since out of the two of us...I am the most senior there it fell on me..lol..
while doing all this a stressed resident doctor rang me...apparently they gave a patient IV ciprofloxacin...2G in the last 24 hours instead of the usual 200mg-400mg IV twice a day.. she said they have made a mistake and gave 750mg IV twice a day...which was suppose to be an oral dose not IV dose...ummmmmm she wondered when to give the next oral dose.. paged her back saying that 50-70% is excreted unchanged..and all gone by 24 hours anyway.... lol..
was I happy when the TPN pharmacist arrived at 10am.. so I could leave to do my hospital..lucky I wasn't busy so came back at 11am to help out...felt bad for the other pharmacist stuck there with a newly qualified....had to walk back to the private just before 1pm to do an antibiotic..
today have taught me..never rely on anyone..better to be self sufficient...lol
