In my younger days I was a KFC customer service chic ...you know the ones that takes your orders in their short dresses..ours was on the highway..the truck drivers loved it..they absolutely hated it when the guys were allowed to serve..used to have a giggle when I trained them...the truck drivers gave them hell..it was in my first year of uni..
they made us learn off by heart all the different combinations..like if you want thighs or breasts then you would always get a wing with it...or a drumstick would always go with a rib...a five piece pack would get one of each..thigh, drumstick, wing, breast, rib...
if you work an early shift you get to make the potato and gravy..1 regular get 1 scoop and a large get 4 scoops..chips get 2 and a half minutes in the fryer...and nuggets four minutes..but when it gets busy anything goes..
when we were quiet we would sit down and weigh the coleslaw and potato salad..
to assemble the burgers we pop in the mayo first..then lettuce...then the fillet..the works always get the cheese on top of the fillet..then the bacon and the pineapple last..
and when customers want a swap a regular chips can be swapped with a regular coleslaw or potato and gravy...corn needed to be poked with a stick and dipped in butter..
at the end of the night anything left went to the employees..especially when a new manager is on and cant aim properly..we used to end up with a bucket each...later on the left overs went to a nearby soup kitchen to feed the homeless..
funny how little things like this stick in my mind..it's been 20 years since I have worked at KFC...
